As part of the celebrations of the 125th anniversary of Bizkaia Bridge, the 2nd edition of this Photography Contest was held in April under the title: “125 Years of Creative Rebellion in our Industrial Heritage”. And now we have the winning photos! Yesterday, in an event that took place on the Bridge terraces attended by Mikel Torres, Mayor of Portugalete, Amaia Agirre, Councillor for Communication, Transparency and Participation from Getxo Town Hall and two representatives from Kutxabank, the prizes were awarded to the authors of the shots that had received the most votes. Iñaki Román Centeno with “Tarde de niebla” (Misty evening) (1st prize), Gabriel Portell Torres “El Puente enmarca la Regata del Gallo” (The Bridge frames the Cockerel Regatta) (2nd prize) and Lucia González Artola “125 Años uniendo orillas” (125 Years joining banks) (3rd prize) were the artists who best reflected the Bridge as a historic industrial element and its cultural, heritage and innovation values. 64 people in total took part in this competition, with a total of 118 photographs. To choose the winners, the Jury comprising Begoña Zubero, José Ángel Izaguirre and Valentín Uriarte rewarded the originality of the settings and the attractiveness of the images of the Bridge. From amongst all the photographs sent in, 20 (including the winning 3) have been selected and an exhibition has been organised that you can enjoy until the beginning of July on the terraces in Getxo and Portugalete.
